CLASSICAL TRAINING

TRAINING

BDC offers a two to four course training program. The different subjects are distributed in 2 semesters in each course, and in two specialties: Classical Dance and Contemporary Dance.

The dancers are trained in both specialties during the first years of training at school and are eligible for specialization from the third. Students who plan to attend only one year complete the mixed course of both specialties.

The personalized attention and guidance of BDC teachers will help to prepare each student for career development. Students meet with management monthly to evaluate their development, trajectory, and personal issues.

CERTIFICATION

The Barcelona Dance Center is a center attached to the Universidad Rey Juan Carlos - Instituto Universitario de Danza Alicia Alonso, and works preparing dancers for their international career, with professional programs and with official certification after the completion of studies with the possibility of reaching a university degree.

Students who complete the professional course of classical dance at the BDC will receive their certificate of formation endorsed by the Instituto Universitario de la Danza "Alicia Alonso" Universidad del Rey Juan Carlos.

Assessments to reach the intermediate or advanced degree level shall be carried out at the end of the 2nd or 4th year of training respectively. Annually there is the exam and certificate of course that entitles you to start the next course.

There are no separate classes according to the four courses. Taking into account the level of the students are placed in one of the two or three groups of ballet and contemporary, according to the number of students, abilities and virtues. Individualized training makes it possible to follow up.

The fact that a student attains the certificate of advanced level in dance, presupposes the transition to higher studies at the Instituto Universitario de Danza "Alicia Alonso" Universidad del Rey Juan Carlos, provided you have completed the baccalaureate, opting for the academic program offered by that institution.

The training program includes intensive classical ballet classes, which are complemented with different subjects depending on the levels: Points, Repertoire, Choreographic Laboratory, Theoretical classes, passage to two, character… The young dancers will work the general technique, preparing for contests and auditions, besides the option of being able to become part of BCN CITY BALLET, young company without profit, completing their training with scenic practice.

From September 2019, the new contemporary dance department will be opened for dancers who want to dedicate themselves to this specialty. The path to the expressive essence of ideas, feelings, emotions, through the bodily movement, seeks the connection with the earthly, with the human, the non structure, the transgression, etc.
